How to play Neon Worms
The controls are simple, but winning takes timing. Use this guide to start playing the free online snake game, grow safely, and challenge friends in the same room.
Start a matchStart playing
- Open the game.
Continue as a guest for a quick match or create an account to keep your progress and unlocked items. - Choose your name and color.
Your username appears in the arena and on the leaderboard. - Move into the arena.
Point with the mouse to steer. On a supported touch device, drag in the direction you want to travel. - Collect energy.
Pick up glowing particles and defeated-worm drops to gain mass and become longer. - Use boost carefully.
Hold the mouse button or press Space to accelerate. Boosting spends mass, so do not hold it longer than necessary.
Win collisions
Your head must avoid other worms. Try to place your body in an opponent's path without steering your own head into them.
Watch the leaderboard
Growing is important, but survival matters more. A long run can move you up the leaderboard even without constant fights.
Invite friends
Open the main menu and copy the room link, or share the five-character room code. Friends can enter that code from the Play tab.
Keep your progress
Create and verify an account to save XP, coins, achievements, cases, skins, and your best results.
Beginner strategy
- Collect open energy first instead of immediately chasing the largest worm.
- Use short boosts for positioning rather than holding boost continuously.
- Leave space around your head so you have somewhere to turn.
- Cut across a rival only when you can clear their head safely.
- After a worm is eliminated, approach the dropped energy from the outside to avoid a crowd collision.
